How to choose an electric kettle?

I have one of your KE5502 electric tea kettle for about a year and it has worked wonderfully until last week when it stopped turning off after it boiled the water. We have very soft water in New York City but I followed the manual and used vinegar to descale the pot and lid. When did that did not work, I used baking soda and water and the inside became very clear (it wasn’t badly stained before) but it still does not turn off.

When else can I do. There are instructions to clear a hole inside near the top of the kettle but there is so such hole. There is a metal tube from the bottom that goes to the top, inside.

Thanks
